AFTERSCHOOL

The AfterSchool Program is a safe place for children to play, learn, and grow when out of school. Our qualified and caring staff focus on nurturing the development of each child. We provide a place to have fun, make new friends, and become more active.

The YMCA’s AfterSchool program serves children from Pre-K to 5th graders and is available at Pine Ridge Elementary, Jasper Elementary School, Holy Trinity Central Campus, Dubois Elementary, and the Tri-County YMCA.  Children create lasting memories as they engage in a variety of educational and imaginative activities that encourage them to explore who they are and what they can achieve. Led by qualified, caring staff, the Tri-County YMCA's AfterSchool program is designed to be fun and educational, and align with the school day, supporting growth in literacy, arts, and science. Your child will receive help with their homework, participate in games and activities and grow their creativity through a variety of projects. A healthy snack is also provided.

AfterSchool helps build a healthy spirit, mind, and body in a fun setting environment. Children will receive a snack, homework time, participate in crafts, games, indoor/outdoor play, and other organized fun while demonstrating our five character values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith.

The Y provides a healthy snack after school.

If your child has any allergies or requires a special diet, please note it on your registration form and we will make sure the staff is aware of it.

Our program is structured as a large group setting, but we do our best to divide the students into smaller groups through out the structured time.

For one child the registration fee is $30.00. For a family the registration fee is $50.00.

Our AfterSchool Program is a part-time and full-time program. Parents can enroll their student based on a 3 day attendance or 5 day attendance schedule. If your student will be attending AfterSchool 1 – 3 days a week, you will enroll your child in the 3 Day Contract and will be responsible for paying the weekly fee for that contract no matter how many days your child attends AfterSchool. If your child will be attending AfterSchool 4 – 5 days a week, you will enroll your child in the 5 Day Contract and will be responsible for paying the weekly fee for that contract no matter how many days your child attends AfterSchool.

When registering your child through the online link, you will be asked to submit a CC, checking, or savings account and the payment method will remain on file. The form of payment will be charged on Saturdays and will be charged for the week of AfterSchool care that was just completed.

No, you do not have to communicate which 3 days (or less) your child will be at AfterSchool. Please be sure to have close communication with your child’s school/teacher on where to send your child for the day.

You will need to email the AfterSchool Coordinator, indicate an extra day of care is needed and you will be charged the difference.

If your plans change and you need to remove your child from the program, you will need to contact Judy Verkamp, the AfterSchool Coordinator, at judy@tricountyymca.org

Pick up procedures will vary by the AfterSchool location.

Pine Ridge: Parents will drive around to the back of the school building and enter Door #7 (Art Room Door).

Tri-County YMCA: Parents will enter the YMCA using the main set of doors.

Holy Trinity Central Campus:  Holy Trinity Central Campus is connected to Precious Blood Church. Parents can park in the parking lot facing the highway. Parents will walk up to Door #4 (Door facing Highway 56). There will be a YMCA sign on the door with the phone number to call. Parents will call the number, indicate the child’s name, and a staff will bring you your child.

Jasper Elementary: Parents will drive around to the back of the school building and walk up to Door #26 (Gym Doors). There will be a YMCA sign on the door with the phone number to call. Parents will call the number, indicate the child’s name, and a staff will bring you your child. Pick up can not occur until after 3:30 p.m. due to bussing.

Dubois Elementary: Parents will enter Door #8 (Gym Doors).

No, students will not receive tutoring services during the YMCA AfterSchool Program. Students will be asked to get their homework out, (staff is not permitted to go in the child’s backpack), and time is allotted for students to work on homework. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and staff will do their best to help, but the YMCA can not guarantee homework will be completed. We encourage parents to check their child’s homework at home.
