WHAT IS THE C.I.T. PROGRAM (11-15 year olds)?
The YMCA’s Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.) Program gives individuals the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to be an effective day camp counselor. The program teaches them the qualifications to become a camp counselor by shadowing our counselors and helping out with games, activities and all of the fun that goes on at the YMCA Summer Camp! They spend time with their peers and mentor younger kids as well. The C.I.T. program helps further develop their leadership and communication skills, as well as let them gain experience in planning and leading activities for campers.
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR TO CAMP?
Children should wear clothing that is comfortable for that day’s activities. We ask that children wear tennis shoes daily to protect their toes and support their feet. Please refer to the weekly schedule for any specific camp attire, such as a swimsuit or an extra set of clothes.
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD BRING TO CAMP?
Each child should bring the following items daily: sunscreen, lunch, snack, and a drink that does not require refrigeration. Please label all items with the child’s name. For reading time, children are welcome to bring some books from home to read.
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD NOT BRING TO CAMP?
We ask that the campers leave all toys, hats, electronics, cell phones, and other personal belongings at home. The YMCA will not be responsible for any lost or stolen personal items.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD IS ILL?
A sick child is to be kept at home, for his or her own sake and that of the other children. Any child that demonstrates the signs of fever (100.5o or greater) or illness will be sent home from camp. We ask that the parent either come for the child or make arrangements for someone to pick up the child. Please do not send your child back to camp until the symptoms of fever and/or contagious illness have been gone for 24 hours without the aid of medication.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN NOT AFFORD CAMP?
We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. No one will be denied access to YMCA programs or facilities due to an inability to pay. Scholarship applications are available at the Tri-County YMCA by request or online.
